Heather Hailstones (b. 1990) is a self-taught artist from Florida. She began painting in 2017 as a form of therapy. Painting quickly grew from a hobby to a more serious pursuit and she began selling and exhibiting her work in galleries in 2019.

Heather uses a variety of media including acrylic paint, spray paint, drawing materials like charcoal, and found objects to create visually busy abstract expressionist paintings with lots of small details and many layers. Much of her work is inspired by a lifelong struggle with her mental health. The brightly colored, highly abstracted works she creates reflect the inner workings of her mind and are a way to explore and respond to the world around her. She has developed her own visual language representative of her anxieties, fears, desires, and dreams.

Heather’s art has been acquired by collectors all over the world and featured in several gallery exhibitions across the United States. She has a degree in History from the University of North Florida and previously worked as a writer and editor for a variety of online and print publications, writing about a range of topics from sexism to U.S. trade policy to culinary trends. She currently resides in Jacksonville, FL. ※
